How to Search on IPTV Using a Firestick Remote
With thousands of IPTV channels and movies, scrolling to find one takes forever. Every major IPTV player has a search tool you can use with the Firestick remote. This guide shows where to find it in IPTV Smarters and TiviMate, how to type faster and what to do when search returns nothing.
1. Open your IPTV app
Open IPTV Smarters, TiviMate or your usual player and go to the section you want to search: Live TV, Movies or Series. Most apps search only within the current section.
2. Find the search icon
In IPTV Smarters, use the D-pad to move to the magnifying glass at the top of the screen. In TiviMate, press Left to open the menu and select Search.
3. Type with the on-screen keyboard
Use the arrow buttons to pick letters and press the center button to type each one. Two or three letters are usually enough, such as "ESP" for ESPN, so you don't need to type the full name.
4. Choose a result and start watching
Move down to the results, highlight the channel or title you want and press the center button to play it.
Tips to find channels faster
- Add channels you watch often to Favorites by long-pressing the center button.
- Use the category list, such as Sports or USA, to narrow results before searching.
- Alexa voice search on the remote works for Fire TV apps but usually not inside IPTV players.
Fix IPTV search not working
If search returns nothing, the playlist may not have finished loading. Refresh it from the app's settings, wait a minute and try again. Make sure you're searching in the right section.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Alexa voice search in IPTV apps?
Usually not. Alexa voice search covers the Fire TV home screen and supported apps, while most IPTV players need the on-screen keyboard.
Why does search not find a channel I know exists?
Channel names can differ, such as "ESPN US" or "US: ESPN". Try a shorter search, or browse the matching category.
Can I search movies and channels at the same time?
Most players search one section at a time. Open Movies to search films and Live TV to search channels.
Which IPTV app has the best search?
TiviMate and IPTV Smarters both have fast search. TiviMate also lets you search the TV guide for upcoming programs.
