How to Set Up IPTV on Android Devices
Android is the easiest platform for IPTV: every major player is on Google Play, and setup takes about five minutes. This guide works for Android phones and tablets, Android TV boxes, Google TV and the Nvidia Shield. You will install an IPTV app, add your subscription with Xtream Codes and load the TV guide.
Step 1: Install an IPTV player
Open the Google Play Store and install IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate (Android TV only) or XCIPTV. All three are free to download.
Step 2: Log in with your IPTV subscription
Open the player and choose Login with Xtream Codes API (sometimes labelled "Xtream" or "XC"). Enter the three details from your welcome message:
- Username and password: case-sensitive, so copy them exactly.
- Server URL: include
http://and the port number if one is given.
Give the profile any name you like, then press Add user. The first load downloads the channel list and TV guide, which can take a minute.
Step 3: Set up the TV guide
The TV guide (EPG) loads automatically with Xtream login. If it shows "No information", open the app's settings, choose Refresh EPG and wait two to three minutes.
Android TV & Google TV tips
- In TiviMate, turn on Settings → Playback → Auto frame rate for smoother sports.
- Set the player as a favorite on the home screen for one-click access.
Common IPTV problems on Android
- App closes on launch: clear its cache in Settings → Apps and open it again.
- Channels freeze: switch the player's decoder between hardware and software.
- No sound on some channels: change the audio track from the player menu.
Frequently asked questions
Is TiviMate free?
TiviMate is free to install. Premium features like multiple playlists and recording need a TiviMate Premium purchase from its developer.
Can I watch IPTV on mobile data?
Yes. HD uses roughly 1.5–3 GB per hour, so Wi-Fi is better if your plan has a data cap.
Which Android TV box is best for IPTV?
The Nvidia Shield is the fastest. A Google TV streamer or a mid-range Android TV box with 2 GB of RAM or more also handles 4K IPTV well.
Can I cast IPTV from my Android phone to a TV?
Yes. Use your phone's Cast or Smart View option to mirror to a Chromecast or smart TV, or install the player on the TV for better quality.
